A winter's day
In a deep and dark december;
I am alone
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow

I am a rock
I am an island

ある冬の1日
真冬の暗い12月
ぼくは独りで
下の通りに静かに降り積もった
雪のカタビラを窓から見ていました

ぼくは岩
ぼくは島なんだ。

I'll build walls
A fortress deep and mighty
That none may penetrate
I have no need of friendship Friendship causes pain
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain

I am a rock
I am an island

ぼくは城壁を築いた
誰も入り込めない頑丈な
奥深い要塞を。
友情なんかいるものか
友情なんて苦痛の種
笑いも愛も、嫌なこった

ぼくは岩
ぼくは島なんだ。

Don't talk of love
Well, I've heard the words before
It's sleeping in my memory
And I won't disturb the slumber
Of feelings that have died
If I never loved I never would have cried

I am a rock
I am an island

愛なんか口にするな
そんな言葉は前にも聞いた。
ぼくの記憶の中で眠っている。
死んでしまった感情のまどろみを
今さら、破りたいとも思わない。
愛さなければ　泣くこともなかったのに

ぼくは岩
ぼくは島なんだ。

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armour
Hiding in my room
Safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me

I am a rock
I am an island

And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries

本と詩が、ぼくを守ってくれる
鎧に身を固め
部屋の中に潜む
ぼくは部屋に閉じ籠る
誰も　ぼくには触れないし
ぼくも　触れたりしないのだ

ぼくは岩
ぼくは島なのだ。

岩は苦痛を知らないし
島は決して泣きはしない。
